Our School

Since moving to our current site in September 2011, we have worked very hard to make the school “our primary school”. We have added to the environment to enhance the learning and enjoyment of our pupils.

Forest School

There is fully fenced forest school which allows wildlife and plants to grow freely. This area is particularly helpful when teaching Science and helping to explain habitats, eco-systems and the natural environment in which we live. We have a pond in there where a variety of creatures live and grow.

Breakfast Club

The breakfast club runs daily before school to allow pupils to come in early to enjoy a healthy breakfast. Places are strictly limited so if you wish for your child to attend Breakfast Club then please let the main office know of your interest.

Outdoor Playground Facilities

Oakwood Primary School has a wonderfully large field which allows pupils to participate in a variety of sports and activities both at break times and lunchtimes. Depending on the term, suitable pitches and athletic environments are laid out on the field to allow pupils access to a variety of sports.

We have trim trails and climbing frames which are available to each class in school at least once a week (weather dependent) so that they can be enjoyed by all.

We also have an outdoor Multi-skills games area (MUGA) which is used for a variety of sporting activities.

Gardening Area

We are very lucky that we have access to a specific area in the school grounds for gardening and growing. This area has specially designed planting beds which allow pupils to develop their understanding of how plants develop and what is needed to grow vegetables and fruits.
