Squash Coaching with Nathan Lake

We were really excited when we were approached by Nathan Lake, offering us some Squash Coaching at Oakwood. Years 2, 4 and 5 have been receiving the Coaching from Nathan and his Team from University of Gloucestershire. Who is Nathan Lake? As Nathan's Blog spot says' Hello all my name is Nathan Lake. I am a world ranked professional squash player (79) and current European champion, based in Cheltenham Gloucestershire. I travel around the world playing the game I love. Its not all plain sailing but its what I love so what more can you ask for!'' The children will receive 6 weeks of coaching and have really been enjoying their sessions so far.

Sports Taster morning with the University of Gloucestershire

On Tuesday 8th March 15 children from Year 2, 4 and 5 went on a trip to Leisure at Cheltenham to participate in different sporting activities. The activities consisted of table tennis, badminton and squash.

The children were taught how to develop skills across all the three sports and throroughly enjoyed the range of activities delivered by the University students.

Feet First Dance Festival - 2nd March

A big 'Well Done' to our Oakwood Street Dance Team who performed brilliantly at the Gloucestershire Dance Festival at the Everyman Theatre and the Feet First Festival at the Town Hall.  Their behaviour and effort was commendable! They made staff and parents very proud!

A massive thank you to Miss Davies for her choreography and work leading Oakwoods street dance group. Have a look at our dance below:

Sport Relief 2016

On Friday 18th March, Miss Walker and Mr Boston organised a great day of activities to raise money for Sport Relief. Everyone started their day with a mass 'Wake and Shake' on the MUGA. Later in the day, classes went out to take part in another 'Wake and Shake' warm up and then run, walk, hop or skip their Sport Relief Mile around the school helped by some very enthusiastic Y5's. In total you raised £280 for this very worthwhile cause. Well done, everyone!
