Science at Oakwood

P.S. 8 Shirlee Solomon Great Kills School

The national curriculum for Science aims to ensure that all pupils:
- Develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
- Develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
- Are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.

For more information on what the Science National Curriculum looks like and how this is taught at Oakwood please see below:

Science Day 2022!

On Thursday 17th March we will be celebrating all things Science and STEM related with a Science day across the school during National Science Week 2022.

On this day we will be carrying out lots of fun activities in class.

As part of this the children are invited to come to school dressed up. This can be as anything Science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) related.
E.g. a scientist, doctor, nurse, teacher, engineer, computer programmer, etc.

See below some photos from our previous whole school Science days!
