Geography
Our Vision
At Oakwood Primary School, we aspire to deliver an inclusive, high-quality geography curriculum that enables all pupils to believe in their abilities and achieve their full potential. Our curriculum is fully aligned with the National Curriculum and EYFS Framework. It is carefully sequenced to build on foundational knowledge, ensuring clear progression in geographical understanding and vocabulary.
Through engaging, experience-based learning, pupils develop secure locational knowledge, place knowledge, and understanding of human and physical geography, alongside essential geographical skills such as fieldwork, map reading, and data interpretation. Learning is underpinned by accurate geographical language and opportunities to apply knowledge in real and meaningful contexts.
We promote teamwork, determination, and self-belief as pupils investigate the world around them, ask geographical questions, and make connections between people, places, and environments. Our geography curriculum fosters passion for the world and promotes honesty and respect by developing pupils’ understanding of diverse environments, cultures, and communities.
By the end of their time at Oakwood Primary School, pupils will have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to understand their place in the world and act as informed, responsible global citizens.
