History
Our Vision
At Oakwood, we aspire to deliver an inclusive, high-quality history curriculum that enables all pupils to believe in their abilities and achieve their full potential. Our curriculum is fully aligned with the National Curriculum and EYFS Framework. It is carefully sequenced to build on foundational knowledge, ensuring progression in historical understanding and vocabulary.
Through experience-based learning, pupils develop secure knowledge of the past while strengthening key skills such as enquiry, interpretation, and communication. We promote teamwork, determination, and self-belief as pupils explore historical evidence, ask questions, and form their own informed conclusions.
Our history curriculum fosters passion for learning and promotes honesty and respect by exploring diverse people, cultures, and periods in the past. By the end of primary school, pupils will have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to think historically and understand how the past shapes the present.
