Safeguarding

Safeguarding in Gardners Lane and Oakwood Federation Schools

The schools within the Federation recognise that children need to feel safe, secure and protected from any form of harm to be able to fully reach their academic, social and emotional potential.

Safeguarding is therefore a key part of the provision offered by the schools.

We are proud of our safeguarding offer but we are also keen to continuously assess and then adapt our provision accordingly. To this end the schools both complete the Gloucestershire Section 175 Safeguarding Audit each year and draw up action plans in light of their findings and judgements. Safeguarding Governor signs off on the audit, monitors the action plan via regular meetings with school leaders.

The schools invest heavily in Safeguarding provision having a full time Pastoral Support worker as well as full time Parent and Pupil Support advisors.

Schools are always represented at any meeting that concerns the welfare or safety of any pupil including meetings outside of standard term times.

All staff along with the Safeguarding Governor receive regular training to ensure that we are always operating in line with the current iteration of Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Safeguarding is always an item on the agenda of a Full Governing Body meeting.
