Governors
Oakwood Primary and Gardners Lane Schools are federated and from the beginning of September 2012 have shared a Governing Body.
Our Governing Body is made up of the following:
Chair of Governors Paul Jones |
Foundation Governors Julie Hunt Martin Clarke Duncan Hannigan
|
Co-opted Governors Claire Price Dave Hill |
Local Authority Governor Paul Jones
|
Parent Governors Vacancy Berta Pappenhein
|
Associate Members Emily Hayet-Patino Rosie Hill Ollie Tuck |
Staff Governors Tony Larner Megan Thomas |
The Role of the Governing Body
The Governing Body takes a strategic role in running of the two schools. This means the Governors work with the Executive Headteacher and Senior Management Team of each school to decide what they want the schools to achieve and set the framework for getting there by:
- Setting suitable aims and objectives
- Agreeing policies, targets and priorities
- Monitoring and reviewing aims, objectives and whether the policies, targets and priorities are being achieved.
The Governing Body acts as a 'critical friend' to the Executive Headteacher and staff by providing advice and support. it does this by offering constructive advice, a sounding board for ideas, a second opinion on proposals and help when needed. A critical friend may also challenge, ask questions, seek information, improvde proposals and so seek to arrive at the best solution.
