PE at Oakwood
Provision of PE
Our P.E. school vision for Oakwood Primary School is:
To support excellence in PE by increasing participation in physical activity and engaging in competitive activities so that all pupils develop healthy active lifestyles and reach the performances they are capable of.
What we do
To achieve our school vision at Oakwood Primary School we:
- Encourage children to participate in a range of Sport and informal activities during: curriculum time, playtimes, extra curriculum clubs and by joining in a range of School sport teams.
- Strive to encourage children to participate in at least 2 hours of activity weekly, through PE sessions and other Physical Activity opportunities.
- Ensure children participate in a broad, rich and engaging curriculum including; dance, gymnastics, games, swimming and outdoor learning, providing children with the opportunity to experience and develop their fundamental skills involved in physical education.
- This also includes learning about the importance of physical development and a healthier lifestyle within Science and PSHCE lessons.
- Facilitate the delivery of PE and Sport both by Teachers in the School and a range of coaching sessions, for teacher CPD, are also delivered to the children by outside coaches.
- Are embedding our programme of Intra School Competitions, to fully engage all children in competition. Through this certificates and School Games values bands are awarded to participants.
- Fully engage with the School Games programme, creating opportunities for children to compete in a range of Inter School Competitions.
- Celebrate sport throughout the School, including during Sports assemblies and displaying children’s participation in Sport on the website and the Oakwood Sport display board.
