Spring 2019

Oakwood 2nd Annual Panathlon

On Wednesday 3rd April, Oakwood held their 2nd Annual Panathlon event. 30 children from Y3-Y6 were split into 5 teams and competed in a number of events led by our Y6 Oakwood Playmakers.

Some of the children involved also competed last year in our first Level 1 Intra School Panathlon and were excited to be taking part again. The Y6 Playmakers successfully led and managed the teams last year and were all keen to take part again. This year, they also nominated competitors for demonstrating School Games Values during the event. We have also had a PE Assistant, Miss Sam Lane, working at Oakwood and this year she took over the management of Playmakers, scoring and organisation during the event.

The events that the teams competed in were: Kurling, Parachute popcorn, Target game, Table Cricket and Boccia.

This year we were also looking for competitors to represent Oakwood at the Level 2 Panathlon in May.

Ryan said, ‘ It was really exciting and fun. I could spend some time with other people doing sporty things I can do. I really enjoyed that I can do things like other people.’

Theo was really pleased with himself at Kurling, he said, ‘I was first to get 10’

Mackenzie said, ‘ I got 7 on the target throw’.

Harrison enjoyed the Table Cricket game most and got a really good score.

We were really pleased to be supported by Tony from Panathlon UK again this year, who provided us with certificates and medals for all of the participants
